This programme focuses on assessing the changes in populations and ecological aspects of species assigned legal protection, and those species whose populations are endangered or threatened. Species with harvest and/or export bans and those deemed ecologically important will also be studied under the activities. In addition, the programme will study interactions between protected species and fisheries. The research activities will coordinate and collaborate with national and international organizations working towards conservation of such resources and promote marine biodiversity at international fora.
