MALDIVES MARINE RESEARCH INSTITUTE
MINISTRY OF FISHERIES AND OCEAN RESOURCES
We are pleased to announce the Sixth Maldives Marine Science Symposium (MMSS 2026)—the nation’s leading platform for sharing marine science and research conducted in the Maldives. Since its inception in 2016, MMSS has been held biennially, bringing together marine researchers, students, and stakeholders to exchange knowledge and foster collaboration.
MMSS 2026 will take place on August 4–5, 2026, in Malé, Maldives, as a fully in-person event. Building on the success of previous symposiums, this year’s gathering promises insightful discussions and valuable networking opportunities for anyone passionate about the marine environment.
Hosted by the Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI), the symposium continues to celebrate and showcase the expanding body of knowledge that informs our understanding and stewardship of the Maldivian marine ecosystem. Over the years, MMSS has united researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to share findings and spark innovation.
This year’s program will feature oral and poster presentations covering a broad range of ocean science topics. Final themes will be determined based on submitted abstracts. As always, abstract submission and attendance are free of charge.
We warmly invite marine researchers, students, and enthusiasts to join us at MMSS 2026 and be part of this vibrant platform for sharing research and innovation.
